Sabres 6U/8U Hockey
Our Mites program is for players with Birth Years 2017-2021.
Sabres players will be split by skill level into teams, at an evaluation held in September.
The top 2 teams (Half-Ice A & Half-Ice B) will play in Half-Ice divisions in the CBHL (Chesapeake Bay Hockey League). The remainder of the teams will play on Cross-Ice teams which will play independently scheduled games both at home and at other rinks. Players can opt out of Half-Ice if their desire is to play Cross-Ice. All teams should expect to travel some for games, but the travel schedule for Half-Ice is heavier.
Experience Required
The only “experience” required to become a Sabre Mite player is that the player must be able to stand up on their own on the ice if they fall down. Programs such as Learn To Play, Snowplow Sam, etc. are certainly beneficial - but are NOT required to become a Sabre.
When
Program starts in September with evaluations, and practices will begin that week as well. Season will run through the end of February.
Where
Practices
Players will practice 2 times per week. Half Ice players will have a 3rd skills practice with the Sabres Skills instructors.
Games
Teams will play games against other clubs in the DMV area, and will also participate in the Beach Bash tournament in Ocean City, MD at the end of the season in late February.
Jerseys
Players must purchase game jerseys in addition to registration fee.
